If France, Germany and Italy had a compilation or 'best-of' offering, it would probably be Switzerland. The small land-locked country has the mountains, the lakes, the food, and a brilliant public transport system. It's beautiful and organised, the people are hospitable and take great pride in everything they do.
A small wine village on edge of Lake Geneva, 20 minutes from Montreux and population fewer than 400 people.
These photos were taken from a holiday house in Rivaz, halfway between Rivaz and Chexbres train stations.

These photos were taken with a DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone, at sunset, over Lake Geneva from Rivaz.
Two hours from French-speaking Rivaz and you're in alps of German-speaking Gstaad, a mountainous area behind Montreux.
The best way to get to the alps is by cable car.
Four trains, one bus and three cable cars and we we arrive at Schilthorn—9,744 ft/2.97km above sea level.
The peaks from left to right: Eiger (3,967-metres/13,015 ft), Mönch (4,107 metres/13,474 ft), Jungfrau (4,158 metres /13,642 ft)

Three quarter moon rising between a gap in the Bernese Alps.
At 2,343-metre (7,687 ft), the Männlichen is perched high above Grindelwald. We had some spectacular sunsets and a great view from the balcony of the holiday chalet.
At 3,967-metres (13,015Â ft), the Eiger towers above Grindelwald.
The lake is located at 2,265Â m (7,431Â ft) above sea level.
From Grindelwald we take 40 bus ride to Männlichen to walk the Panorama Trail; unfortunately the cable car is closed for refurbishment. The walk takes in expansive views up to the Eiger and down to the valley of Grindelwald below.
The Panorama Trail really does have some of the best views of the Jungfrau region.
